Frequently asked questions
Can Mingtrove remove a password I don’t know?
No. It needs the password to decrypt the file. It only lets you save a copy without that password afterwards.
My PDF opens but won’t let me print or copy. Can I fix that?
If you know the permissions password, yes: enter it and download. The copy has no restrictions.
Does unlocking turn the pages into images?
No. The unlocked PDF keeps real text, fonts, links and form fields.
Is it legal?
Removing a password from a document you own or are allowed to edit is fine. Don’t use it on documents you aren’t entitled to open.
